The Lord Judges

By Benjamin H. Liles

For the Lord is our Judge, the Lord is our Lawgiver, the Lord is our King; He will save us. ~ Isaiah 33:22, NKJV

Three quick notes here: I am slowly feeling better after being sick all of last week, which was why posting anything was a chore. I do have some chest congestion, but what I'm worried about now is whether there's something on my lungs or not. I'm unsure on that. That's why I'm still coughing my head off. So, keep praying. My wife is also still sick too, please keep praying for her health. Thank you. She is feeling a lot better than I am, actually. Finally, God gave me a ministry/Church name. So, when I am able Calvary's Cross Community Church (C4, due to all the first letters are C) will be taken shape and put online.

I'll see what I can do to move these posts over there. Calvary's Cross, C4, has a mission built in to it: "A Dynamic Church on fire in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ" (Matthew 5:13-16, Acts 1:8, and Revelation 3:15-16). So, the vision/mission is "To take the gospel of Jesus Christ to ALL the people of the world" as what Jesus Christ told His disciples, the apostles, to do. We're not an apostolic or charismatic Church as the apostles are the twelve foundation stones of Christ's Church. Jesus Christ is where our mindset is on. He is our Lord, Savior, and King. So it is to our benefit we keep our eyes on Him, and preach only Him so that the gospel is fully carried out. With all of that said, here's today's message --

To say that God alone is the One who saves, that He alone is Judge, Lawgiver and King demonstrates the vision Isaiah has of Him. Isaiah's heart is more than open, and more than that Isaiah is more than humble about the sin he's committed as well of Israel's sins (see Isaiah 6:5). This vision Isaiah has is one which isn't terrifying in the least. On the contrary, it is that of One who has come to set up His kingdom. It is a vision of a King who desires to have redeemed for Himself a people who have given a careful ear to.

This is practically the same vision Daniel has when he tells Nebuchadnezzar of a Rock that will smash a statue of the world's kingdoms. This rock is an eternal kingdom which isn't made by human hands. It is a place where the One who is right imputes His righteousness to those He calls and has called.

There is a reason for the gospel of Jesus Christ. His kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. It is a kingdom that never ends. There will be no more death, no more sin, no more tears, no more pain and no more sorrow. It is a kingdom in which those who are found to have repented of their sins and thus putting off death through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ have been redeemed. Christ is the One who saves! This is the same Jesus when He returns will dispense His right and just laws - He is our Lawyer on our behalf before God the Father. Jesus Christ is also the Judge as well, wiping away the slate due to us having repented of those sins. As scripture declares, "As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us" (Psalm 103:12, Holman Christian Standard).

This is the same Jesus who healed the sick, the lame, the blind, the demon-possessed and bid those He healed to follow Him and turn from sin. This is the same One who led the Israelites from the bondage of Egypt to the Promised land mentioned in Exodus. So, look to Jesus. He is the Way. He is the Truth and the Life. He is indeed the One who saves. I pray this has touched and blessed you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
