Seeking Out God's Forgiveness

By Benjamin H. Liles

For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you. ~ Psalm 86:5 WEB

This is so very true. Those who seek and call on God, He forgives. This is what Christ accomplished when those who saw what He did, and heard Him speak came to Him for. Yes, some only came because of the power he displayed, but more than anything the people who came to Him wanted healing and to believe in God again. Christ made all of that possible. No wonder Jesus could claim, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, if not by Me" (John 14:6, Berean Study Bible). When you come out from under the weight of your own sin, tossing it off and accepting what Jesus Christ did at the cross, then He forgives you, extending the kindness of the Father as they called and cried out. After that, sin is no longer master over you. Why go back to doing that, if you truly belong to Christ? "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33, Berean Study Bible).
